Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Outbound Shipments Management:- Maintain the outbound log for the assigned facility to track all shipments.
- Manage shipments to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and profitability.
- Book shipments using the WWMH process and dispatch carriers as needed.
- Create or secure required shipping documents, including BOL and customs paperwork.
Customer Pickup Orders:- Manage customer pickup orders and communicate essential information:
- Sales Order Number (SO#)
- Customer Purchase Order Number (PO#)
- Total weight, pallet count, dimensions, and freight class
- Pickup address, shipping hours, and site contact information
- Request for BOL and recipient details
- Monitor and follow up on customer pickups:
- Send reminder emails if orders are staged for over a week.
- Add notes in Nav and escalate to include the sales coordinator and sales rep if orders remain staged for additional weeks.
- Assist in obtaining a ship date if necessary.
- Manage customer pickup orders and communicate essential information:
Third-Party Shipments:- Set up shipments with preselected carriers chosen by the customer.
- Request or create BOL as needed, especially if not dealing with a broker.
Daily Operations:- Review the outbound log daily to identify and address any orders that did not ship as planned.
- Reschedule shipments if necessary and notify customers of any delays.
- Communicate updates regarding hot orders, late shipments, and damaged shipments.
- Ensure timely communication with customers, carriers, and sales teams.
Communication and Problem Resolution:- Provide updates on shipment status, including PODs and tracking information.
- Communicate with carriers to ensure the best service, lowest cost, and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with Sales on resolving issues related to late, hot, or damaged shipments.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in transportation or logistics.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in handling shipping documentation and processes.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with shipping software and tools (e.G., Nav, WWMH process).
