Job Title: Metal Plater Location: Chicago, IL Industry: Manufacturing Employment Type: Full-Time Position Overview Our client, a leading manufacturing company in Chicago, is seeking an experienced Metal Plater to join their production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing metal plating and finishing processes to ensure high-quality coating and surface finishes on various metal components. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of plating chemistry and equipment, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain plating and finishing equipment, including tanks, racks, and filtration systems.
Perform electroplating, electroless plating, and anodizing processes according to job specifications.
Monitor chemical concentrations and adjust plating solutions to maintain optimal performance.
Inspect and prepare parts before and after plating, including cleaning, masking, polishing, and rinsing.
Perform quality checks using micrometers, gauges, and visual inspection to ensure coating thickness and surface finish meet standards.
Record and maintain production data, chemical usage, and bath analysis results.
Follow environmental, health, and safety procedures for chemical handling and waste disposal.
Collaborate with supervisors and quality teams to troubleshoot defects and improve process efficiency.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in metal plating, finishing, or surface treatment in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of electroplating principles, chemical solutions, and metal finishing techniques.
Familiarity with nickel, chrome, zinc, or copper plating is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.
Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely around chemicals and machinery.
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical training or certification in metal finishing or plating a plus.
